Brochure Winner and Finalists promote
the HMA industry.
The 2003 Outstanding Brochure Winner,
A.E. Stone, Egg Harbor Township, N.J. developed the award-winning,
full-color, 8 1/2" x 11" brochure as a marketing tool
to provide company information to engineers, developers and contractors
who were not familiar with the services that the company provides.
Construction services, information on recycling and rentals as
well as special projects and materials are included in the body
of this attractive brochure.
Brochure finalist Bituminous Roadways, states on
its cover, "Worry-Free Paving Solutions... Since 1946."
This colorful bi-fold piece has photos of its quality workmanship
through the layout and includes a listing of the pavement maintenance
services. The brochure states that the company produces its own
asphalt and employs seasoned professionals "who are trained
in the most current construction and maintenance techniques."
Duval Asphalt Products, Florida, also an Outstanding
Brochure finalist, created a sleek, 9" x 12"" folder
that lists the many services that the company can provide and
has pockets to add information for individual services. It is
a marketing piece for the company, designed to be given to new
and established clients when submitting a proposal. It clearly
promotes Hot Mix Asphalt with information on asphalt paving, maintenance
and manufacturing, as well as full-color photos emphasizing those
services in the center of this tri-fold piece.
State Asphalt Association and HMA Producer are
both winners of NAPA's 2003 Web Site Award.
Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association and Tiller
Corporation were named winners of the 2003 NAPA Website Awards.
The Web Site Awards category recognizes NAPA and State Asphalt
Pavement Association members who promote the use of Hot Mix Asphalt.
Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association uses colorful
graphics on its homepage, www.coasphalt.com, and is updated at
least on a weekly basis. The site was created to improve communications
to its members and provide timely and comprehensive information.
It is easy to navigate and covers issues currently of interest
to Colorado, such as Airports / Asphalt Issues, Asphalt News,
Education and Certification, as well as offering online technical
resources.
When Tiller Corporation d.b.a. Commercial Asphalt
created its website, www.tillercorp.com, its goals were to present
the company in a positive light, highlight the contributions of
the industry to the community, provide accessible information
to neighbors and community leaders, and provide generalized information
to its customers. Visit the site and you will see that each of
those goals have been met. The result is an informative and user-
friendly guide to Tiller Corporation.
NAPA also named seven finalists in the Web Site
Awards. They are: Alabama Asphalt Pavement Association (www.alasphalt.com);

NAPA Signs Historic Agreement on Work Zone Safety
and Health
On November 18 NAPA signed an agreement to form
an alliance promoting roadway work zone safety and health. Members
of the alliance are the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and
Health (NIOSH). NAPA's coalition partners are the American Road
and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), the International
Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), and the Laborers' International
Union of North America (LIUNA).
A government/industry/labor partnership like this
is a first for OSHA. Peter Wilson, NAPA's 2003 chairman, said,
"This alliance agreement with OSHA and NIOSH is another step
forward in our efforts to ensure that the workers who build and
maintain our streets and highways return safe and healthy to their
families at the end of each workday." |
